May 2026
Projected to run between May and Sep 2026
Sustainable Fashion
Re-use,Reduce,Re-invent
This project proposes the creation of a Sustainable Fashion Repair, Sewing, and Patchwork Studio that extends the life of garments through repair, upcycling, and creative textile reuse. The initiative combines environmental responsibility with craftsmanship, offering affordable services while promoting conscious consumption and local skills.
The studio will function as both a repair shop and a creative hub, transforming damaged or unwanted clothing into renewed, unique pieces using patchwork and traditional sewing techniques.
Problem Statement
The fashion industry is one of the world’s largest polluters, with massive textile waste generated each year due to fast fashion, poor garment quality, and limited access to repair services. Many clothes are discarded for minor damage that could easily be fixed or redesigned.
There is a growing need for:
Accessible clothing repair services
Sustainable alternatives to buying new garments
Creative reuse of textile waste
Education around sustainable fashion practices
Project Objectives
Reduce textile waste by repairing and upcycling garments
Promote sustainable fashion and slow fashion values
Provide affordable tailoring and repair services
Create unique patchwork garments from fabric scraps
Support local artisans and sewing skills
Educate the community through workshops and demonstrations.
